You may eat out at up-market restaurants on a regular basis or visit your local cafe for your daily caffeine fix, but is it comfortable?
Creating an enjoyable and memorable experience boils down to how comfortable your host made you feel throughout the time spent at his or her establishment. Ultimately this equates to the type of cafe furniture that was present. This post is all about why comfortable furniture is so important to us whenever we visit a cafe or a restaurant, and why it should be the same for you.
1. Setting the ambience
The style and type of cafe furniture goes a long way towards creating the ambience of a cafe. Traditional style cafes use chunky wooden counters or even beer barrels coupled with classic wood chairs such as ladderback and bentwood to convey this ‘olde worlde’ impression. Modern cafes on the other hand use trendy chrome and metal furniture to get their message across.
2. Sufficient personal space
While we totally understand that cafe owners need to get as many customers through the door as possible, we don’t enjoy sitting so close to other customers that we can hear every word they’re saying, and likewise. Try and utilise your cafe furniture in such a way that it makes practical and functional use of the space while allowing for some privacy. Small tables in recesses and corners offer an intimate for space for two whereas booth seating is perfect for families and small groups sitting together, but sufficiently far away from other customers.
3. Cleanliness
The right choice of cafe furniture makes it easy for staff to clear and wipe down between customers quickly and efficiently. Vinyl upholstery is easy to wipe clean with a cloth while removable chair covers can be easily laundered. Laminate table tops are quick and easy to wipe without disturbing your customer’s comfort.
4. Flexibility
Bar stools are one of the most flexible items of cafe furniture but in order to be practical they need to have foot rests or your legs dangle! if they happen to swivel then it’s even easier to spin around at the bar to chat to your mates or look into your girlfriend’s eyes. It also helps if they have a padded seat, especially if you’re sitting there for any length of time. To us, this equates to comfort.
5. Arm rests and back supports
You might want to give your chairs some careful thought too. While side chairs are ideal for grouping around communal dining tables and enable more people to sit together, if you’re wanting to chill out and relax and even indulge yourself with a dessert, then it’s vital that the chair is comfortable. For this reason we prefer restaurant chairs to have upright backs to stop us from slouching as well as arm rests so that you can place one arm comfortably while you dip your spoon into your dessert.
6. Adjustable height
Oh, we nearly forgot to mention that we also prefer for our stools to be adjustable because after all, we’re not all the same height, and it’s extremely uncomfortable if you’re not perfectly aligned with the height of the table or counter that you’re sitting at.
Here at Cafe Chairs Melbourne we offer a wide range of options with regards to chairs and stools because, after all, not everyone likes the same as we do. Why not browse our online store or visit our showroom in Brendale and try some chairs or stools for yourself.
