If you visit a lot of cafes then you’ve probably seen your fair share of designs which range from cutting edge to quaint to somewhat dated. The interior design of a cafe can play a large part in any cafe’s success and determines whether or not new customers will return. So that said, what are some of the emerging new cafe design trends for 2017?
Edison bulbs are a pretty common sight in many cafes these days and although they have a certain appeal and lend themselves well to an industrial vibe, customers are starting to tire of the trend. While the bulbs have a certain beauty about them, they do have a tendency to leave some areas looking dark compared to their counterparts.
Some cafe owners are moving back to creating more light in their cafes so that people can see clearly what they’re eating and interact more freely with each other. One way of getting more natural light into your cafe is to incorporate large sliding glass doors into the front of your shop. These allow for plenty of light and can be slid back to let the air in or closed to keep chilly breezes out.
After several years experiencing the dark grungy shades of industrial design, some cafe owners are moving to the other end of the colour spectrum. Think boho chic in place of industrial charm. An easy way to incorporate more colour into your interior is to use bright artwork on your walls or brightly colored centre pieces on tables. You could even turn an entire wall into a large colourful mural.
Communal dining is increasing in popularity and allows for customers to interact freely with each other if they so wish. Large communal tables serve this purpose well and if you use side chairs or stools you can seat more people. With this trend in mind, why not incorporate some sharing platters into your meal which are ideal for communal dining?
Tiles aren’t just for kitchens or bathrooms. Try utilising tiles as backsplashes for your bar area or you could tile an accent wall. Whether the tiles are colourful or not, this is a great way to add interest into a particular area without it overwhelming the rest of your décor.
Try incorporating one or two of these ideas into your cafe and breath fresh life into it. It’s a way of making sure that your cafe never feels dated and also gives your customers a great dining experience.
